INDUSTRY LEADING IWA AWARDS SET TO RETURN AT WORLD WATER CONGRESS & EXHIBITION

IWA is pleased to confirm that industry leading IWA Awards are set to return at the World Water Congress & Exhibition in Copenhagen, 11-15 September. The global event will see five days of critical discussions and activities that will help shape our water future.

Nominations are currently open for the 2022 edition of the prestigious IWA Awards programme.

In announcing the news, Kizito Masinde, IWA Global Events & Awards Director adds: “IWA is committed to recognising the special contributions and achievements of its members and of water sector professionals around the world, and the invaluable contribution they all make to key innovations in water science and management. The IWA Awards programme provides a platform to celebrate those who shape the direction of the sector, featuring in particular the IWA Global Water Award”.

The IWA Awards draw attention to the broad range of excellence, leadership and innovation that IWA members and network participants bring to both our Association and the industry at large.

Nominations are open for various awards categories, including:

  • IWA Global Water Award – the most prestigious among the IWA Awards, it recognises an innovative leader who has made a significant contribution for a water-wise future
  • IWA Gender Diversity and Water Award – celebrates contributions to progress on gender diversity and inclusion in the water sector
  • IWA Young Leadership Award – is granted to an exceptional young water professional for their achievements, leadership and future potential

The IWA Awards

The IWA Awards help drive stewardship, innovation and leadership in the water sector. The awards offer a chance to nominate outstanding water experts who will be recognised for their work.

In 2021, the inspiring water leaders from around the world who were recognised by the IWA Awards included prominent academic Marcos Von Sperling, who won the acclaimed IWA Global Water Award for his work at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil on wastewater and water pollution.

WASH advocate Nafisa Barot was recognised for using her role at NGO Utthan in Gujarat, India to influence people and secure more diverse and inclusive policies around water.

Renowned scientist and engineer Dr Siddhartha Roy was recognised for winning the IWA Young Leadership Award for his lifechanging scientific work related to the Flint water crisis in Michigan, USA. Find out more about last year’s winners.
