NEW REAL DRIVING EMISSION TESTS FOR EUROPEAN CARS WILL HIGHLIGHT BENEFITS OF AUTOGAS

08 set 2017
The European Commission announce that new car models HAVE TO pass new and more reliable emissions tests in real driving conditions ("Real Driving Emissions" – RDE) and improved laboratory test ("World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure" – WLTP)

The European Commission has announced that from the 1st of September 2017, new car models have to pass new and more reliable emissions tests in real driving conditions ("Real Driving Emissions" – RDE) as well as an improved laboratory test ("World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure" – WLTP) before they can be driven on European roads.

The European Union Vice-President for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, Jyrki Katainen said:
"The new emissions tests are a milestone in our ongoing work for cleaner and more sustainable cars over the coming years”.
The European LPG Association welcomes this announcement and is confident that the implementation of these new procedures will confirm once again the environmental benefits of Autogas cars. These benefits were put in evidence when the LPG industry proactively and with the support of independent experts, tested the environmental performance of Autogas cars on real journeys, real people take every day. Autogas vehicles bring a 90% PN emissions reduction and a 98% NOx emissions reduction compared with equivalent petrol and diesel models respectively.

Cécile Nourigat, Autogas Manager at the AEGPL said:
“From these RDE test results, it is clear that Autogas brings significant reductions in NOx and particles emissions compared to equivalent diesel and petrol cars respectively. Choosing Autogas means reducing pollution and protecting people’s health, for real.”
