“Scotland to lead the world on 'smart' energy solutions” -7TH Smart Energy UK & Europe, 28th & 29th of January 2016

28 set 2015
In a report, the Carbon Trust approached the Scottish Government to create a joined up energy strategy, inside which smart technology would be utilized to transfer renewable force over to the nation's heating and transportation needs

This could promise energy security and create employments. The Carbon Trust said "targeted innovation" is the key if Scotland was to accomplish its vision. The Carbon Trust emphasized on the importance to focus on driving down production network expenses, creating energy storage and utilizing the country's take off of 'smart meters' as a chance to connect with and urge customers to take control over their energy use and expenses.

According to Claire Maugham, Director of Policy and Communications at Smart Energy GB, Smart meters could give energy providers the customer trust and enhance the relationship consumers have with providers, including: EDF Energy, Scottish Power and npower, Smart Energy was set up to advance the government’s big rollout of smart meters which correspond directly with energy suppliers to assist individuals with bettering energy use and expenses by 2020.
