The Global EPC Forum: where all the action is

05 ago 2015
Heavy hitters in engineering, procurement and construction management are prepping for high level networking at the Global EPC Project Management Forum. The premier event is slated for Sept. 9 to 11 at the Hotel Palace Berlin. It’s not too late to grab one of the last spots open at this exclusive conference, coveted by top executives in the energy sector

At first blush, reports from the Energy Industries Council spark alarm. First quarter of 2015 reveals a 30 percent decline in the levels of contracting activity across global upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. Why is anyone crazy enough to spend money on a conference in this economic climate?
While the number of newly awarded EPC projects has dropped significantly in the last year, the size of new projects coming on the scene is remarkably huge.
According to the EIC, high value oil and gas contracts are coming forth despite lower numbers in the number of contracts themselves. The United States, Ghana, Malaysia and Norway in particular have seen boosts in activity with 11 EPC contracts across six separate upstream developments.
An example of a recently awarded contract is Kuwait Oil Company’s plan to beef up and maintain a higher crude production over the next five years. Just in the last month, international oil and gas services provider Petrofac became the proud recipient of a lump-sum US$780 million EPC project, funded by KOC.
